Tara is a clinical psychologist and board approved supervisor who alongside Amy Joyce established Focused Psychology.
Tara draws on more than 16 years of clinical psychology practice in adult and youth mental health settings to achieve the best possible outcomes with her clients. Establishing a genuine and robust connection with her clients is fundamental to Tara’s work. She aims to work collaboratively with each client to help them better understand their own minds, the mental states of others and work towards resolving any unhelpful patterns in their lives. Tara hopes her clients leave sessions with a feeling of being understood, valued and respected.
Tara is trained in a range of evidence based therapies and often talks with clients about the best matching approach for their individual needs, learning, neurotype and stage of change. Tara is particularly interested in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Focused Therapy, Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and attachment based models.
Tara is passionate about working with complex and multiple problem presentations including but not limited to:
- Complex trauma and PTSD
- Interpersonal difficulties
- Personality disorders
- Anxiety disorders (including OCD)
- Body image and eating disorders
Tara also has a strong interest in clinical supervision and secondary consultations to service providers.
